The "Greenest" Homes in Central Florida

Updated: Feb 6

Groninger Custom Homes builds green and sustainable homes in Winter Park, Orlando and Central Florida.

Two of our homes were finalists at the 2020 FGBC Awards Ceremony. Since these were the only two homes in Central Florida that qualified, we can make the statement that these are the greenest homes in Central Florida. Thanks go to our customers for their passion to pursue the Platinum level of Green Certification. We couldn't do it without you.

So, has Green Certification lost it's appeal?

I’ve occasionally observed confusion and resistance surrounding conversations about green construction and lifestyles. I wonder why some people stumble while others are jumping on the green bandwagon, so I’ve decided to remove “green” from the discussion.

Would you like your home to be energy-efficient? Do you want water-conserving appliances and fixtures? Would you like a low-maintenance landscape? What about durable construction? Most of our customers want these things. This is Green...

Here’s a list that I compiled of potential benefits related to the design, product selection and construction techniques that might be considered when planning a new home or renovation project:

  • Community Impact

  • Energy Efficiency

  • Environmental Awareness

  • Health and Comfort

  • Operations and Maintenance

  • Property Characteristics

  • Resource Utilization

  • Site Development

  • Waste Management

  • Water Conservation

Narrow House was also voted Best In The Nation at the 2020 National Home Builders Association 55+ Housing Awards. It features many green, energy-efficient and innovative products and ideas.

Little is more meaningful and personal than a home, and the experience of designing and building your own home should be rewarding and enjoyable. Choosing a builder is difficult. The process of designing and building a home involves numerous decisions about components, systems and services selected from criteria that includes price, quality, appearance and performance. How can you possibly understand everything unless the builder is willing to share all of the information?
